2016 November Favorites

2016-silentlyfree-november-favorites-01

Can anyone believe how fast this month has gone by? Or rather, how fast this entire year has gone by? I can’t believe we only have one last month left in 2016! For the month of November I have to admit that I have been eating left and right without any thoughts of dieting! I don’t know if it’s because the weather is getting cold, or if it’s simply because I’m tired of eating healthy. I have been eating all the junk food: chips, cookies, ice cream, chocolate, ramen, you name it I’ve eaten it. Oddly enough, I don’t regret any of it. I’ve enjoyed every delicious moment of my snackfest, and I’m sure it’s going to continue in December. Bring it on!

#. Dan-poong (Autumn Foliage?): I’m not sure why there isn’t a specific word for the leaves turning red, orange, and yellow. The word for it in Korean is “dan-poong” and this year I felt like the colors were more vibrant than ever. I didn’t get a chance actually go somewhere specifically to see the dan-poong, but it was beautiful on my school campus.

#. Parallel Pen: I was looking for options to practice calligraphy on the go, and I decided to try the parallel I’d been hearing about. It has a much sharper edge than a broad nib marker, so it’s really nice to carry around without having to worry about spilling ink bottles.

#. Walks with Kip: It’s true, Kip will insist on marking every single bush in the neighborhood, but I hardly ever regret taking him out for a nice walk. We like to go to a nearby quiet park where Kip can run around and I can do some stretches without feeling conscious of other people.

#. Waffle cones: I think I actually get more excited over the waffle cone than the actual ice-cream! I just found out though that you can opt to get two junior sized scoops rather than full sized scoops at Baskin Robbins. I think this is perfect for when you can’t decide between two different flavors, but don’t have enough room for two whole scoops. I tried strawberry-vanilla and berry cheese cake and they were both pretty good!

#. Pizza-Dalk-galbi: If you like pizza and you like Dalk-galbi, then why not try pizza-dalk-galbi? It’s basically a spicy chicken stir fry with pizza toppings on top! I thought this was much much better than the dalk-galbi-fondue, which didn’t live up to my expectations at all. Of course, if you’ve never tried dalk-galbi before you must try the original first!

#. Holiday cups: One of the things I look forward to during the holiday seasons are the holiday cups and mugs! They always have the most festive designs that add some holiday cheer to my coffee. It’s always fun to see the different designs that different coffee shops have. I remember a couple years back there was a cute snowman cup when I was getting my coffee from a coffee stand in the subway.
