The first time I went to P.F. Changs was with a group of college friends that lived in the same dorm. We were  downtown Seattle, and wanted to try the trendy looking Asian restaurant. After all, most of the places that fancy and large were either Italian or Steakhouses. So we walked in, ordered an appetizer, some main dishes, and a pot of tea. I don’t remember what main dishes we ordered that day. All I remember is that the Chicken Lettuce Wraps were amazing. Not that the main dishes were sub-par or anything. It was just that the Chicken Lettuce Wraps were that good and memorable. They even had a handful of sauces that you could mix to your taste to add to the wrap. Everyone I know that goes to P.F. Changs, goes specifically for the Chicken Lettuce Wraps.

So when my friend told me there was a new P.F. Changs at the Coex Mall in Seoul, I was delighted to be able to go there again. After all, it’s going on 3 years since I’ve moved here from the States and there are a lot of things I’ve missed. This time I tried the Crab Wontons as well, but they couldn’t compare to the Chicken Lettuce Wraps.

She and I only ordered one main dish, which was the Honey Crispy Shrimp, because the Chicken Lettuce Wrap is a decent sized serving. We were both extremely full at the end of the meal and didn’t even finish the brown rice it came with. The Honey Crispy Shrimp was also really good, and we felt like it was a good combination to go with the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. So I would count the Chicken Lettuce Wraps as a main dish when considering how many dishes to order. You’ll probably be full or have just enough room left for dessert!

After shopping at the Coex, my friend told me about an amazing crab curry dish she had tried and introduced me to a Thai restaurant called Saint Augustin. I have no idea why they decided to call a Thai restaurant Saint Augustin, but it certainly made an impression. The curry was called Boo Paht Pong Curry which basically means stir fried crab curry, and it was the best Thai curry I have ever had. I have not lived before I had this curry. The combination of rich curry with crunchy fried crab was amazing. It also would have been the most expensive curry I’d ever tried, had it not been 2 servings. We ordered two bowls of rice on the side and split the bill in half. If you like curry and you like crab, you should definitely see if any of the Thai places near you have Boo Paht Pong Curry. I can’t believe I’ve lived this long and not tried it before.
